The District Blends Homecoming Activities with Patriots Day Recognition

A beautiful, warm weekend set the scene for the Shoreham-Wading River community as the district hosted its annual homecoming festivities on Sept. 26.
Upon the conclusion of a schoolwide pep rally at the football field, students, administrators, cheerleaders and families joined in the homecoming parade around campus to set the tone for a successful game against the Hampton Bays Baymen.
After a halftime performance by the cheerleaders, the administration and members of the board of education took to the field for a special Patriots Day recognition ceremony honoring active and retired military and first responders. As their names were called, Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole presented each guest with a Challenger Coin, marking the district’s appreciation for their sacrifices and for keeping residents safe.
There was even more celebration as the Wildcats excelled on the field with a 52-18 victory and making lasting homecoming memories.
