Wading River School students recognized Autism Acceptance Month during the school’s recent Autism Acceptance Fair. The event helped raise awareness, prioritized empathy, promoted acceptance and celebrated the diverse talents and experiences of people with autism.

Principal Lou Parrinello thanked the staff, parents and community members who volunteered to make this wonderful event happen as students celebrated and learned about what makes us all special.

If you saw some Wading River School students sporting I'm A Brain Show Maniac” medallions, you can be sure they had an educational, engaging and energizing time at the recent event held in the school’s gymnasium.

The Brain Show encouraged participants to intellectualize, reason, and to think creatively and strategically, all while having an enjoyable time. The educational trivia game show encouraged students, their families and teachers to compete while celebrating learning. The event left smiles on everyone’s faces while reinforcing that learning is fun!

Wading River School was awash with students, families and friends at the annual Evening of the Arts on April 10. Upon entering the school, cheerful music filled the air, indicating the festive arts celebration inside. Dozens of students in grades four and five served as art ambassadors, art teachers Daria Browne and Rosemarie Petruzzellis greeted parents and grandparents as students showed off their works displayed throughout the hallways. A fun art scavenger hunt encouraged participants to read the placards beside the colorful art pieces created throughout the year including pumpkins, sunflowers, butterflies, trees, self-portraits and more.

The festivities continued with the third grade orchestra – directed by music teachers Erin Fasano and Jenilyn Smith – performing several popular selections and culminating with Queen’s “We Will Rock You.”

The evening was a joyful celebration of creativity, imagination and connection in Shoreham-Wading River.
