Balloons Over Miller Avenue!

Balloons Over Miller Avenue! thumbnail262815
Pikachu, Olaf, Minions, Baby Shark and others were in the sky as the second grade classes at Miller Avenue School celebrated Thanksgiving with their annual Balloons Over Miller Avenue Parade. The halls were lined with spectators from the younger grades as each class led the way with their themed balloon signs, reminiscent of the famed New York City parade. Thanks to Mr. Verbeck for serving as the photographer with his VIP grandstand pass!

Thank You, Thank You to Our Veterans!

Grandparents, parent, relatives and even neighbors were part of the second annual Miller Avenue School salute to veterans’ breakfast and parade.

The uplifting event began with students gifting each honored guest the nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice for veterans, a paper red poppy, followed by a welcome from Principal Mrs. Claudia Smith, a tasty breakfast of bagels and muffins and hugs and appreciation from students to their special guests.

Students in Alice Steinbrecher’s second grade class took to the gymnasium stage and sang a thank you song to veterans, which was followed by patriotic music and student-crafted posters made for each of the branches of the U.S. military for the special event. Students and veterans paraded out the gymnasium door and paraded through the hallways to students, staff and invited guests waving flags while patriotic music played over the loudspeakers.

Thank you to our Miller Avenue School for hosting this event again, thanks to the PTO and a special thanks to all the veterans who attended on Nov. 8.
