Dear Parents and Students:
We are coming to the close of another school year which is an exciting and stressful time for students, parents, and the faculty alike. I ask that parents work collectively with the school in emphasizing the importance of ending the academic year on a positive note. Our teachers and students are working diligently to prepare for their upcoming finals and Regents examinations. Please refer to the extra help, instructional support and Saturday Regents tutorial schedules on our website, and encourage your child to take advantage of these support systems. In addition, please do not hesitate to contact the teachers directly with any questions and concerns you have regarding your son or daughter.
In addition to the various sports finals and playoffs, we have many important and exciting events scheduled in the next month. Some of these events include:
• The Music Showcase, May 27th at 7:30 p.m. High School Auditorium
• Senior Athletic Awards May 28th, at 7:00 p.m. High School Auditorium
• The Senior BBQ, May 29th
• The Underclassmen Recognition Night, June 1st at 7:00 p.m.
• High School PTSA, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the High School library
• The Senior Breakfast, June 11th
• The Senior Recognition Night, June 11th at 7:00 p.m. High School Auditorium
• The Senior Prom, June 25th
A listing of all the senior events including graduation rehearsals is provided on the left hand side of this webpage entitled IMPORTANT GRADUATION AND SENIOR EVENTS INFORMATION. *Note the Commencement time change on June 27th and the Rain Date on June 28th. Please refer to this link for complete details the seniors need to be aware of with regard to these events. As in the past, the commencement ceremony will provide our graduating students the appropriate recognition they deserve while celebrating the dedication and hard work they demonstrated throughout their years in the Shoreham-Wading River School District. I look forward to seeing you all on the 27th.
On a final note, with springtime comes the warmer weather. Any student found wearing clothing deemed inappropriate such as tube tops, tee shirts with inappropriate writing or logos, excessively high shorts or skirts, and other distracting clothing will be asked to change. Any student that refuses to change upon request to do so will be sent home.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful end of the school year, and I wish you a happy and restful summer.
Sincerely,
Dan Holtzman
Principal
