Among the various initiatives that Miller Avenue School’s
second grade student council members have been conducting since the
beginning of the school year, including a toy drive, food drive, and a
can and bottle recycling program, is their latest action – Crayola
ColorCycle.
Hundreds of used crayons, markers, highlighters and
dry-erase markers are filling a large collection box in the main hallway
to be returned back to Crayola for recycling.
According to co-adviser Mr. Robert Korchma, the initiative
encourages the students to remember the importance of their role in
protecting the environment. The school joins hundreds of schools across
the nation in exploring simple eco-friendly practices.
