Thanks to a generous grant from Shoreham-Wading River’s WHAM
(Wildcats Helping the Arts & Music), Miller Avenue second graders
are using Osmo Coding Blocks to create group musical compositions.
“Students arrange the blocks into patterns, sequences, loops
and subroutines while developing an ear for rhythm, melody and
harmony,” music teacher Cara Brown said of getting to know the creative
side of coding.
The hands-on learning will eventually lead them to create
finished jams that they can share with the world through the Coding Jam
app.
