Wading River School fifth grade students in Ms. Tonia Ammirati and Ms. Meredith Trani’s class welcomed a special guest to talk about his experience as a veteran. Mr. Marshall Picken, Ms. Trani’s father, visited the class via Google Meet on Nov. 9.

Mr. Picken talked about his service as a meteorologist in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He shared what Veterans Day means to him and how he likes to remember and celebrate the important day that honors military veterans. He also said that he is proud to be a veteran and feels that the experience helped shape his life in a positive way.

Mr. Paul Ganci’s fifth grade class also had a virtual visit with Marine Corps combat veteran Cpl. Eric Busto, a member of the Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team.
