Student-Scientists Present to BOE

Briarcliff School and Miller Avenue School students who won the district’s elementary science fair this year presented their findings to the Board of Education at a recent meeting. Kindergartner Claire Tepfenhardt found that her dog sits more when presented with a treat, first-grader John Lister added coins to his Matchbox cars to see if they go faster down a ramp and second-grader Celia Gaeta presented on how the moon affects a person’s feelings. The students then qualified for the Brookhaven National Laboratory Elementary School Science Fair, in which Celia won in the second-grade category.The district congratulates these students and the honorable mention winners, first-graders Roosevelt Berenson and Cameron Regini and second graders Lily Jaeger and Madison Tees.
