The SWR High School chapter of the Future Farmers of America organization recently celebrated National FFA Week in style with their own iconic blue corduroy jackets, signature color of the FFA. The students, along with science research teacher and adviser Ms. Dana Schaefer, recognized the countrywide celebration with activities including highlighting local farms, native wildlife identification and a live cooking demonstration via Google meet.

In addition, four senior members of the chapter – Torre Ann Parrinello, Taylor Peperno, Blythe Wing and Claire Wing – participated in New York State FFA Leadership Development Events in various categories. Each student showcased a different aspect of the organization’s guiding principles through speeches about agriculture-related topics.

“All performed exceptionally well,” Ms. Schafer said of three who placed first and one who placed second in their respective events. They will move on to the substate competitions. Congratulations to our SWR Aggies: Natalie Casey, Matthew Cerniglia, Mary Curry, Ivan Cruz, Michael DaVita, Ava Merced, Torre Ann Parrinello, Reagan Peperno, Taylor Peperno, Eileen Sheridan, Blythe Wing and Claire Wing.
