Dr. Seuss-Inspired Spirit Week!

Dr. Seuss-Inspired Spirit Week! thumbnail181179

While strengthening their vocabulary and language skills and fostering a love of reading, students in Miller Avenue School wore some colorful and favorite hats to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and one of his most cherished books, “The Cat in the Hat.” The celebration was part of a five-day Spirit Week at both Miller Avenue and Briarcliff School to recognize National Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss. Each day at the two schools had a different theme – Monday students and staff wore green in honor of “Green Eggs and Ham” and on Tuesday the favorite hats were worn. Wacky Wednesday will honor “The Lorax,” Thursday’s pajama day will recognize “Sleep Book” and Friday’s “Fox in Socks” will encourage all to wear their favorite, festive, colorful socks. Teachers received recordings of each day’s book read by one of the district administrators.
