Students in Prodell’s MOIP/research class welcomed a special guest via a Zoom meeting to culminate a project on the Vietnam War.

The MOIP (Methods of Inquiry and Presentation) class, taught by Mrs. Danielle Senneca, was introduced to Vietnam War veteran Lt. Dan Guida, a strong supporter of the school who has in the past visited the class to share his experiences of more than five decades ago.

Students spent the month of January researching and completing various projects of their choice about the Vietnam War. Utilizing the SWR Virtual Reference Collection, they explored the complexities of the war and took their research to the next level. Some students challenged themselves to not only complete a typical “Works Cited” page, but undertook an annotated bibliography format. Other options for research included creating a slideshow, writing letters to a veteran and analyzing songs from the Vietnam War era.

“The depth of knowledge that students had entering the Zoom with Lt. Dan was outstanding,” Mrs. Senneca said. “They were able to ask specific and insightful questions, which impressed Mr. Guida. I am honored to have him return to visit Prodell even through a Zoom, but I can’t wait to be able to see him in person and thank him for his service and for giving his time to the students of the SWR community.”
