The Shoreham-Wading River School District recently held a walkthrough
and plaque dedication at Wading River School to provide the Board of
Education, district administrators and the community with an update on
the school’s recently completed and upcoming projects.
Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole said he is pleased and excited
about the changes occurring in the district’s facilities as a result of
the 2015 resident-approved capital project bond referendum. Of the
elementary school’s facility improvements, he stated, “The school is an
absolute gem and a wonderful learning environment for our students.” He
also noted that this is an exciting time for the district. “We are
grateful to the community for their overwhelming support.”
Principal Louis Parrinello led the tour, which highlighted recently
completed updates including: an updated entranceway, improvement to the
third-grade wing, lighting and ceiling replacement, bathroom handicap
access in the nurse’s office, updated bathrooms throughout the building,
new custodial and psychologist office space, a new building wing with
courtyard instructional space, new fifth-grade classrooms, renovated
cafeteria, a new gymnasium ceiling, updated library, renovated stage for
musical rehearsals and a new roof in the front of the building.
