District students have been pursuing their creative interests this summer during a five-week Theatre Arts program and will showcase their talents during four exciting musicals on Aug. 2-3 at Wading River School.

Dozens of students in grades K-12 took part in this year’s program, working collaboratively to create stage performances of “101 Dalmatians,” “Arf,” “Peter Pan,” and “The Addams Family.”

The district summer mainstay, now in its 43rd year, enables students to create friendships, acquire team-building skills, develop theatrical abilities as well as enhance their musical studies through instrumental and vocal lessons. It is coordinated by program director Paula Albert-Franz, who retired in June from Albert G. Prodell Middle School after 32 years of teaching music in the district.

“Arf” featuring K-3 grade students, will take place on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m., students in grades 7-12 will perform “The Addams Family,” at 7 p.m. Scheduled for Friday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. “101 Dalmatians” will showcase the talented 3-6 graders; and “Peter Pan” will highlight the skills of the 5-10 grade student performers at 3 p.m.
