The Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education recognized the service of
four retirees during the last Board meeting for the school year.
Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Brian Heyward introduced
building principals who touted the special efforts of instructional
materials assistant Patricia Reilly, music teacher Paula Albertfranz,
head custodian Walter Danowski and sixth-grade teacher Anne DeSimone,
before their families, friends and colleagues.
Miller Avenue Principal Christine Carlson commended Reilly for her
tireless efforts in getting the library organized for each academic year
and making it a warm and inviting place for students. She also spoke of
the influence music teacher Albertfranz has had on the thousands of
children she has worked with in her 32 years of teaching throughout the
district. WRES Principal Lou Parrinello praised Danowski for his
dedication and integral role in keeping the children of the district
safe. He was lauded for helping to oversee special events, the merging
of the elementary schools and the completed bond projects including the
new cafeteria at WRES this past school year. Prodell Principal Kevin
Vann spoke highly of DeSimone and the positive impact she has had on her
students and the entire school community with her admirable attributes
of being firm, friendly, flexible and fair.
