Students in Wading River School have an extra reason to love Wednesday
mornings when they start their day in the school’s newly launched World
Languages Club. The before-school club, led by English as a New Language
teacher Susana Vique-Kearney, provides students an opportunity to
explore language and culture through various modalities and activities
in a fun-filled environment. Participants become familiar with the
target culture and language through visual and performing arts
activities, social studies lessons including historical events,
authentic games, holiday celebrations and geography exploration, and
Language Arts Literacy activities. Third-graders started in their first
six-week session throughout February, followed by fourth-graders who are
in the midst of their lessons and fifth-graders will start their
session in early May.
