The students of Shoreham-Wading River High School invite the community to enjoy a fall performance of “Kiss Me Kate” on Nov. 2, 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Combining the irreverent humor of Cole Porter and William Shakespeare, “Kiss Me Kate” is a musical within a musical. Divorced Broadway stars Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi agree to star in a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" alongside rising young actors Lois Lane and Bill Calhoun. With real-life imitating Shakespeare's art, backstage complications pile up due to a romantic misunderstanding between Graham and the soon-to-be-remarried Vanessi, while Calhoun's gambling debts cause two mobsters to become part of the show.

According to director Dennis Creighton, students began working on the show in August, learning choreography and blocking. There are more than 60 students onstage, over 25 playing in the pit, and others involved in stage construction, running the crew and working the front of the house.

Tickets to the show are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults. To purchase tickets, visit Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
