Running like the wind at 27th annual cross-country event at Shoreham-Wading River High School

Winding their way through almost a mile in the woods behind Shoreham-Wading River High School were 129 walkers and runners in the 27th annual special education cross-country run.

Paul Koretzki, the District’s coordinator of community programs and adult education and coach of the girls cross-country team, has facilitated the event at the high school for the past two plus decades on behalf of Section XI, the governing body for Suffolk County High School sports.

Fifteen members of SWR girls cross-country team were on hand as volunteers to man the course, record times and present medals to the participants.

According to Koretzki, it is a program utilized by special education teachers throughout the region as a celebratory conclusion of the popular, autumn, open-air running physical education enjoyed by students, families and spectators.
