To bring awareness of sudden cardiac arrest to the local community, free youth heart screenings were offered this past weekend at Albert G. Prodell Middle School.

The event, which was coordinated by Shoreham-Wading River High School senior Jordan McClintock and the Louis Acompora Foundation, with help from Mark Passamonte, District Director of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Nurses, drew more than 300 people between the ages of 12-25.

“This topic is one that is extremely important to bring attention to and we are so happy that the many people it attracted were able to learn more about effective and preventative strategies to help with the early detection of heart problems,” said Passamonte.
