Shoreham-Wading River School District students have
worked to perfect their theatrical skills this summer during a five-week
Music Institute and Theater Arts program and will showcase their
talents during three exciting musicals on August 3 and 4 at Albert P.
Prodell Middle School.
More than 150 students in grades K-12 took part in this
year's program, working collaboratively to create stage performances of
"On Safari," "Seussical Kids," and "Disney's High School Musical Jr."
According to Program Director Paula Albert-Franz, the
42-year-old District summer mainstay enables students to create
friendships, acquire team-building skills, learn responsibility and
develop an appreciation for the performing arts as well as enhance their
musical studies through instrumental and vocal lessons.
"On Safari," featuring students from kindergarten through
grade three, will take place on Thursday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m.;
"Seussical Kids," scheduled for Friday, August 4 at 12:30 p.m. will
showcase the talented third- through sixth-graders; and "High School
Musical Jr.," will highlight the skills of the grade 6-12 student
performers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4.
