Wading River Elementary School students showed off their published Kidsday works at the June 20 Shoreham-Wading River Central School District’s Board of Education meeting. 

The published works included several jokes, illustrations and 18 articles. Among the articles, an interview with “Smurfs” movie cast members Demi Lovato, the voice of Smurfette, and Joe Manganiello, the voice of Hefty Smurf.

All of the articles were written under the direction of Kidsday editor Pat Mullooly, who visited and worked with students in their classrooms several times during the school year.  

“This was an inspiring program,” said Kidsday participant Jessica Plagge. “I learned that hard work really pays off.”
