To offer encouragement and celebrate the educational achievements of its students, Miller Avenue School has kicked off a new positive message initiative with the help of parents.
As part of the program, once a month, a group of fathers line up at each of the school’s exits to form a high-five tunnel. As students pass through, they are offered high-fives and words of encouragement. Parents also use chalk to decorate the school’s sidewalks with pictures and positive messages to further motivate their children.
“The chalk walk and high-five tunnel are two ways that we are fostering the school’s connections with families,” said Principal Christine Carlson. “They end the week on a high note and provide students with positive reinforcement and praise.”
