Neil Lederer Named Interim Superintendent

At its June 21 meeting, the Shoreham-Wading River District Board of Education appointed Neil Lederer to serve as the District’s Interim Superintendent, effective Sept. 1, 2016.

Mr. Lederer, whose career in education spans 50 years, will serve as Interim Superintendent while the Board continues an extensive superintendent search. Information about the search process, as well as opportunity for participation will be made available to the public in the near future.

Mr. Lederer has most recently been serving as an Interim Superintendent for the Hauppauge School District and previously served as an Interim Superintendent in the Bayport-Blue Point School District, as well as the Three Village School District.

Mr. Lederer spent much of his educational career within the Lindenhurst School District, serving in multiple administrative roles before being appointed Superintendent in 2002. He served at the helm of Lindenhurst for seven years until his retirement in 2009.

In addition to his administrative roles within the Lindenhurst School District, Mr. Lederer served as President of the Suffolk County Schools Superintendents Association and Suffolk County Middle School Liaison to the State Education Department.

Mr. Lederer holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from Long Island University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from New York University.
