To culminate the District’s 2015 Summer Music Institute and Theater Arts Program, more than 150 students in grades K-12 performed for family and friends. Over the course of five weeks, the students learned dance moves, lines and songs while making new friends, developing character and strengthening their teamwork skills.

Students in grades K-2 put on a musical skit about insects, based on their lessons, while older students performed “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Students also had the opportunity to continue their musical studies through instrumental and vocal lessons offered twice a week.

“We hope this program gave students a feeling of accomplishment,” said Paula Albert-Franz, who currently directs the 40-year-old program. “We hope they are inspired to develop a lifelong love of music and theater.”
