Uniting Against Bullying

In continuing its mission to ensure that students work together to prevent bullying, stay safe on the Internet and understand diversity, middle school social worker Andrea Monz invited Suffolk County Police Officer Nancy Ward to speak to students.

Throughout the week of April 27, Officer Ward spent time in social studies classrooms speaking with eighth-grade students about diversity and the importance of acceptance. She also presented assemblies to sixth- and seventh-graders, educating them on bullying prevention and Internet safety.

The workshops will culminate with a SWR Unites Against Bullying Walk. On May 15 at 6 p.m., the middle school Student Council will team up with the high school Best Buddies to walk the track to show support of bullying prevention. Community members are invited to attend.
