Thanks to the talents of high school art students, the Avo Grill in Wading River now features a colorful, desert-themed mural.
The mural, painted under the direction of art teacher Shannon Westcott, was created by six art students over a two-day period. The project came to fruition after the owners of the grill, who are Shoreham-Wading River graduates, reached out to the art department.
“It was a great experience,” said Ms. Westcott. “The girls were very excited and are thrilled with the end result, as am I.”
Student-artists working on the mural were Cassie DiGeloromo, Michaela Hammer, Kate McHugh, Nina Mostaccio, Taylor Rotanz, Sara Rubenstein and Marchella Verdi.
