Audiences recently enjoyed an exceptional performance of “Bye Bye Birdie” by middle school students.

The popular musical, written by Michael Stewart, was performed by the talented cast for fellow students, their parents, faculty and members of the general public with each show featuring different sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

“I tried to involve as many students as possible,” said teacher and director Artie Gross.

To accomplish this, Mr. Gross said that he double casted many roles so more students had the opportunity to shine in the spotlight.

Mr. Gross, who has been directing the middle school’s annual spring musicals for a number of years, said he chose “Bye Bye Birdie” as an educational experience for students.

“It is a classic show and exposes students to different music,” said Mr. Gross.
