Raising Autism Awareness
The middle school student council has embarked on an Autism Awareness Month campaign throughout April.
As part of the campaign, students are raising money for Autism Speaks by selling autism awareness rubber ducks and blue friendship bracelets during their lunch periods. They also created an autism ribbon poster where students can pay $1 to color in a puzzle piece and write their name showing support.
In addition, the students are asking their peers to wear blue to show support every Friday throughout the month and are working on a SEPTA game night in an effort to further develop peer-to-peer relationships with autistic students.
