High school students learned about different school cultures on Long Island through a cultural exchange program at the high school on March 23. The program allowed students to get to know peers from Longwood High School, both in class and during lunch periods.
“The program offers students the opportunity to view each school, the type of instruction offered, and school culture from a different perspective,” said Principal Dan Holtzman. He noted that the students also forge new friendships and learn more about diversity.
“This has been a great experience,” said senior Julia Pace. “I really thought there would be a lot of differences between the students, but in many ways, we are all the same, going through the same high school experiences.”
Earlier in the year, Shoreham-Wading River students spent time at Bay Shore High School, and last year visited Longwood High School.
