For the first time in their 17-year history, the Wildcats football team won the Class IV Long Island Championship, defeating Roosevelt at Stony Brook University’s Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Nov. 30 with a final score of 47-13. The victory gave the team a perfect 12-0 season.

During the game, quarterback Danny Hughes ran for three touchdowns and passed for one and Isreal Squires made an 80-yard TD reception and a 17-yard touchdown run. Other plays included Shamari Kirkpatrick’s rush of 2,340 yards to 126 yards on 26 carries and 11.2 tackles by Kevin Cutinella.

Following their win, team members paid tribute to teammate Tom Cutinella, who passed away earlier this year, by posing for a photo with his jersey. The team also wore Tom’s No. 54 on their towels and his initials inked on their legs.
