Middle school student council members collected enough food over the past month to fill 23 gift baskets, which will be donated to local families in need for Thanksgiving.
During the week of Nov. 19, the students volunteered their time to wrap the baskets for delivery to food pantries, which will distribute them to local families in need just in time for Thanksgiving.
The food collection drive, according to Andrea Monz, student council adviser, was one of the most successful to date. Aside from food donations, turkey gift cards were donated by middle school teachers and staff.
“I want to thank the Shoreham-Wading River community for your amazing endeavors on behalf of the individuals and families we serve,” said Ms. Monz.
